I bought this remote to use with a CD-105. I was disappointed after I received it. You have to literally point it at the deck to get it to work. You cant just have you hand on your lap and adjust the volume or change tracks. The other issue is the lag time with the remote. Hard to explain but you have to push the volume button and wait a couple seconds then push it again. If you hold it down the volume will go up or down extremely fast. Alpine make some great stuff but this remote isn't one of them.

I bought this for use with my Alpine IDA-X305S head unit. It works for tuning the stereo and for adjusting the volume level, muting, and choosing the source input, along with play, pause, forward and reverse functions for the aux input. As far as any more advanced uses like searching for specific songs on my i-pod or changing EQ settings forget it. The sensitivity isn't great either. even while sitting in the driver's seat thew remote has to be pointed directly at the stereo for it to work. Come on Alpine, I know you designed this remote to work with all of your newer head units but still, add some functionality to your remotes! Along with better ir (infra red) reception. With a remote I should be able to control virtually every function of my stereo that it has.

This is the second time that I ordered from this company with good results. The remote that was ordered was for an older car radio with XM and wasn't sure it would work because of being a different model number. Much to our delight it worked perfectly as the old remote was toatlly worn out. This company and Amazon both deserve the 5 star rating.

is a alpine iDA-X001 or a alpine cda-9883 better for sound quality.?

I have the cda-9883 and the sound quality is great, but I like the style and look beyond the IDA-X001. is it worth the extra money for the IDA-X001.

9883, because then you can use CDs instead of mp3s, and its obvious that the CD in sound better than MP3s.

A Pioneer 4900 or the Alpine CDA 9883?

I'm leaning towards the Alpine because of its great Ipod interface. But the Pioneer looks so much better. Which is better in sound quality, and overall?

Also, should I even consider Dual in comparison to these?

I am a big pioneer fan. Dual should not be considered, its junk. But its really up to you on what you think sounds better and what you need. And you realy should not try to use a ipod when driving any way its like trying to watch tv and drive
