What is the diffrence in the alpine cda 9886 and cda 9887 cd player? Which is the best?

I heard that u have to have a certain piece for the cda 9887 to make the quality good, but in the cda 9886 u dont
If your referring sound processing the 9887 has one thing over the 9886. The sound shaping tool in the 87 is more dynamic and overall increase in quality as opposed to just an increase in bass on the 86. Also the 87 has 4 button colors to choose from and the 86 has one. Not really a selling point but a plus. The 87 is $100 more on Crutchfield so its significantly more. The 86 has built in iPod where as the 87 doesn't. The 87 has no USB where as the 86 does. All in all Looking at the specs, I would get the 9886 because it is $100 cheaper and you don't loose much in fact you get iPod connectivity where as you dont with the 87. The EQ advancement is not necessarily worth it especially if you using external amps with your speakers and subs. In that situation a external EQ would provide the best quality.
