In 1992, PLG’s father bought a skate park, and that same year, the 12- year-old began to enter skateboarding competitions. Despite his early success, his parents always stressed the importance of school, and PLG had to maintain good grades to skate or get new boards. 2 ANDY MACDONALD Hometown: Boston Birthdate: July 31, 1973 Sponsors: Verizon Wireless, Airwalk, Positiv Skateboards, Coast Body Wash, Bern Helments, Clif Bar, Go211.com, Vedalo HD Eyewear Andy MacDonald started skateboarding when he was 12 years old and, although he grew up trying every sport imaginable, he found skateboarding to be the most fun. Over the course of his twodecade career, Lasek has proved time and again he’s the fiercest, and most composed, of any competitor on the vert ramp. With a never say die attitude, a perfectionist’s approach to choreographing contest runs, and an uncanny ability to pull out a miracle when necessary, Lasek has taken home multiple Dew Cups. Nonetheless, he impressed his competition with his technical ability and switchstance lines and walked away with the win. In the years since, Burnquist has gone on to roll over every obstacle in his path and he’s changed skateboarding. 9 ROB LORIFICE Hometown: Encinitas, Calif.
