All “sole sisters” are welcome to attend the fifth annual Galveston women’s conference, Celebrating Women — Mind, Body and Spirit — on May 17 at Moody Gardens, 1 Hope Blvd., in Galveston.

This year’s theme, “From the ‘Sole’ — Happiness and Laughter,” is designed to provide a lighthearted, fun-filled day of learning.

Celebrating Women was launched in 2007 as a partnership between the Galveston Chamber of Commerce and the University of Texas Medical Branch Health to highlight advances in women’s health issues.

It has evolved into one of the most important women’s events in Galveston County with an anticipated 2012 attendance of 1,000.

Keynote speaker Leigh Anne Tuohy, the delightful maven portrayed in “The Blind Side” book and movie, starring Sandra Bullock, has much to teach us about actions speaking louder than words.
