Will 3 Hifonics TXi1508D be good to run 3 12" Fi BTL's?

Oct 01, 2008 by obcaraudio
The car is a Lexus ES300 .... and also, each amp comes with a control knob of the bass, is there a way to connect all 3 amps and only have a control knob bass out of there rather than all 3?

Here is a link to the amp

I do not know much about Fi Audio. But with a few amps Hifonics I can tell you that you can control all three amps with a single command to gain distance. If you can get up to 1ohm impedance on each sub then you get that 1500 WRMS. but if you can not do 1ohm then you will pass the 900 WRMS. Needless to say that no matter what your system will book. This will depend on the configuration of your voice coil and I am assuming that each sub will get an amp? Your subs wired in parallel will give you a lower impedance. Also with this type of bulb you need to upgrade your charging system for vehicles.
  • This is the least of your worries ...

If your total power is 1200 watts RMS or more, you will need:

    1. Upgrade the alternator to a high performance alternator
    2. Opt for a yellow top battery
    3. Upgrade the "Big 3" - which is to replace (or add) the power wire between the battery and alternator, the ground from the battery to the chassis and the ground strap to the engine / tranny to the chassis with at least 2 AWG wire.

Otherwise this will lead to early death of the alternator as it will eventually fail.

Here is a guide that will calculate the size of the alternator and son power you need http://www.box.net/shared/uchv4dbk88

You will need Microsoft Excel. If you do not have Excel, use this link http://www.box.net/shared/nkkw1dhk4g

A second battery is never a good idea because it's extra pressure on the alternator to charge two batteries and power for the car. The only time a second battery is useful if the audio system is used with the car off.

A capacitor is only good for as long as the audio system is trying not to draw too much from the electrical installation.A cap does not provide more power, it is designed to "harden" the voltage to the amp, nothing else. If the current is not there, a cap will not help.
The alternator must have at least 20% more power intensity than the entire vehicle and sound system combined for a cap on the benefit which is ironically the same requirements for an amp to be efficient.

Would this be a good setup, and would I need a new alternator for my car?

Also, white size amp kit would I have to get?
