I recently purchased the KTC-HR300 HD Tuner for an older Kenwood eXcelon radio (the KDC-X790) I have in an antique hot rod. I purchased it outside of Amazon at a higher price because information was lacking concerning older HD compatable Kenwood radios, and I was concerned I might need to return it. Also, Kenwood doesn't warranty anything not sold by their affiliated dealers.Even the major Kenwood electronics supplier I purchased from was unsure the KTC-HR300 HD would work with my older (2007) Kenwood radio - although it was HD rated by Kenwood. The first tech told me straight out it wouldn't work with my older head unit. Boy, have I got a surprise for him. I later called back and spoke with another tech there, pointing out a few things in the Kenwood USA site item description, and ordered the unit from them with the understanding I could return it if it didn't work.The only thing that doesn't work is my headunit is unable to do the iTunes "tagging" the...

Paired it up with the new DNX6180 and it works like a champ. Just remove the antenna from the head unit and plug it into the HR300, then just one cable from the HR300 to the DNX6180. Fired it up and the DNX6180 saw it and displayed a shiny new HD Radio Icon.Very nice, great receiption and sound quality.

I bought this about 2 months ago because I was curious about HD radio and wanted to get the most out of my stereo. I have heard a few negative reviews of this device about the reception being choppy and not being able to tell much of a difference. I will say that it is definitely not this products fault. I have done a lil research and the problem lies with the radio stations not broacasting the digital signal with enough strength. They are currently trying to get approval but they are working out some kinks and possible problems with stronger HD signals interfering with analog signals. I like this product and do not regret getting it. Sound quality is 100% better when a digital signal can be picked up and there are alot more channels, some even commercial free. I hope that they will do like they did with television and make it mandatory for broadcasting company's to switch over to digital. I'm looking forward for that to happen :)

I have a kenwood TK - 7100 radio want to know if it is posible to do adjustments on the radio to use it as a marine radio , or will it be better to resell it and buy the correct one .

They make radios especially for marine use.

I've also seen watertight covers that flip down over the face plate, to keep it dry. Might be useful if you have to use a non-marine rated unit
