I have 2 15in CVR, and a kicker zx1000 amp. on the amp, how come I can only turn the gain of about a 1 / 4 of the way? the amp puts out, if higher. plus I had an amp 1000 Sony B4 and worked and sounded much better than the Kicker amp .. is it? I thought the book Kicker amp would be much more difficult than the Sony.
Dont listen to Keith kapacitor man. the 1st guy is right. its gain thats wrong. you do not know how to properly configure it and you missed things. gain is not to adjust the volume of your submarine. the unit is generally assessed by amps preouts under some tension. your gain must be related to that. if not it will cause stress on your amp because it must work harder. keep it up maybe you fry your amp. Set it right and youlll be fine. ps if it was the battery / capacitor needed, he shows other signs first before it is cut.

I want to put a new speaker system in my car....first off i need to know these things

1) What exactly does a kicker amp do?
2) If i get a kicker amp do i have to get a bass sub?
3) If i get a bass sub do i have to get a kicker amp?
4) Do my door speakers hook into the kicker amp?
1)Kicker is a brand. An amp does exactly what it says (amplifies), it makes your music louder. 2)If you are getting the amp to specifically run a subwoofer then yes. If you want bass in your car then it is best to run a amp to a subwoofer.If you just want to make it louder in your ride then just hook up your amp to the inside speakers only.3)If you get a bassing sub then get an amp for it accordingly (kicker is a great brand).4)Yes, wires have to be run from the amp to the door speakers.The way it works is you run a power wire (12 volt ), a ground wire, remote wire to the amp, and rca jacks if your stereo has them and if not you have to get a converter(sends signal to amp from stereo to let it know what it is playing), and then run speaker wire from the amp to the speakers.
