Can't figure out how to make kicker amplifier work?
Feb 05, 2009 by d.pitts@ymail.com
I just bought new zx750.1
kicker amplifier with two
jackhammers 12''MTX (1600W). I plugged everything and the
amplifier immediately showed the red light. when I did not connect UN-connect the battery. (I connected one amps
kicker much the same way). Wondering if there is anyway to solve this problem, what is the problem, or what I have to make do now ...
- I would say that the first place to start would be the ground. Make sure you have a good ground that the cable is not longer than two or three feet (the shorter the better.) So the pledge of land is important sounds like you have a lot of power if you 'll want to go with a fairly large thread Gage.
adding kicker amplifier to 2003 passat with 4 speakers and 4 tweeters?
Feb 08, 4017 by Honda Girl
if I add a 650 watt
kicker amplifier to the 4 speakers will that blow the speakers completely ..
Why would it? You're adding a 4 channel amp that will clean up the sound and filter out bass anyway. So no. Don't worry about the wattage on the amp, just turn your gain levels down a little and adjust your high pass filter on the amp to around 100-125 Hz to limit the amount of bass to the speakers and you should be okay. Just double check though, sometimes the tweeters and woofers in the doors run separately to a amplifier in the factory, and if they aren't actively crossed over at the tweeter and they're being crossed over within a factory amp, you wont be able to just add a 4 channel amp to it. It will cause your tweeters not to work properly (because there will be no crossover). and some people will install the outputs from the amp to behind the factory cd player, but with a factory amp, this would do nothing. You would be adding an amp to nothing because the factory amp will take over and be powering the speakers anyway.
The way to tell if those tweeters are actively crossed over at the tweeter is to look in the door. If there is only one set of outputs going to the door and then their split to the woofer and tweeter, then you are okay. but if you see 2 separate sets of speaker wire in the door one for the tweeter and one for the woofer, then there is more than likely to have a factory amp, and you will want to replace your speakers as well.
