So i bought this deck awhile back, like last year, anyway its a great deck, you can hook RCA's up or wires for your speakers right out the back of the deck. anyway, its a really great deck, everything worked, and everything is very impressive, screen is huge, and fits perfectly in my car. Now ive read some other reviews and people are complaining that the DVD player and SD card reader dont work. TO THOSE PEOPLE< READ THIS !!!!!!!!!!!!. If you want that to work you have to go into the harness of the radio and install and ground the BLACK WIRE, to the ground, this wire is suppose to be installed to the handbreak so when it is pulled you can watch movies (its a safety option) you can by pass it by grounding it out. i really hate that this deck is very impressive but is getting horrible reveiws becuase of the dvd option, i will assure that the deck will work and be a perfect addition to your car. Message me with any questions, i could install these things for a living haha.

After having Best Buy install this for me ($200 + $20 wiring harness + $20 in taxes) I have briefly tried all the aspects of the unit. USB adapter instantly connects to the system and the system pulls the data out of various folders you copy to it. This works the same as an SD card (supposedly though I've yet to try one.) Some unusual (pirated Asian imported Akira Kurosawa movie collection discs) worked were on some occasions they will fail for certain DVD players. The parking brake only has to be slightly engaged for the dvd player to work and doesn't seem (?) to affect driving performance. Some might argue this is dangerous though it shouldn't really be (assuming you set the parking brake in position while not in drive). The Navigation box (NAV-1) I did not want to use as I prefer to use a Garmin 855 (which can also plug it's headphone/auxilary plug into the A/V plug of the stereo.) I was charmed with its impresive features live 800x480 resolution, 8,3" display, bluetooth, SD USB front connection etc, bu the DVD part never work from begining, although almost all my video music can view from a SD card or a Pendrive, however, although the DVD unit doesn't recognize the disk (neither DVD nor CD), but it seems always try to read some disk with a annoying sound around when I play radio or video. And although the resolution is WVGA, but the quality is modest, and only support few format like Divx, Avi... not HD format can play on it. Since I am out of US, it's almost impossible to return to Amazon.com claiming the waranty, just write this review for someone else to think before to buy this unit. And if the vendor can see this review, please try to contact me to give me the solution of DVD unit problem. bsrmb@hotmail.com.

Dec 10, 2008 by Shane CI am looking into buying a Power Acoustik ptid-8960 in dash retractable 7" dvd player multimedia center. Are these any good? I can find any reviews on them anywhere on line. Local shop wants nearly 600 bucks for it and I found them brand new on ebay for 289. Has anyone dealt with Power Acoustik dvd players? Maybe this model specifically? Crisp Video? Crisp Sound? Quality??? Thanks!
